spring trip to the Cinque Terre, Lucca, and Venice for October 15-November 2, 2011

During the week our Italian tour guide Stefania spent in NC in January, we had the chance to look at what worked well and could be improved during our previous tour and to revise — and EXPAND — our plans for the future. We've learned that people plan their trips abroad way ahead. That's prompted us to reschedule our spring trip to the Cinque Terre, Lucca, and Venice for October 15-November 2, 2011. We also developed exciting new plans for two future programs.     Stefania and Glenn outside their home in Agello The first is a weeklong hands-on painting workshop which begins October 1st. This will appeal equally to the beginner wishing to tap into her hidden creative side or the seasoned artist looking for stimulation from a setting of unrivaled beauty and fascination. Glenn Ball, Stefania's husband, has worked as a painter and sculptor in Italy for the past 13 years and will lead the workshop which will be held in a beautifully restored borgo (village) overlooking Lake Trasimeno. Stefania will lead half-day excursions to the nearby hill towns of Cortona and Perugia; those who wish can extend their stay in Italy with three days in Florence. Stefania, a woman of many talents, will also offer daily morning yoga sessions and two cooking classes. Watch our Web site for full details to be released soon. Secondly, we've begun nailing down arrangements for a two-week trip to Sicily in 2012. We are exploring possible dates in May as well as October and will settle on one based on interest.
