Last weekend, I put the finishing touches on a massive investigative report I have spent the past 14 months working on. It was a grueling, frustrating and emotional endeavor. During the course of my reporting, I've been battling with the FBI over the production of documents and ended up filing a Freedom of Information Act against the bureau, which is still unresolved. While I cannot yet divulge the explosive details of this story, I can tell you that when it is published within the next two weeks, it will transform a narrative that the government has controlled for a decade. Simply put, this report will stand as the biggest story of my career and - believe me - it will not disappoint.
This is the kind of assignment that I could not have undertaken at another outlet; the amount time, dedication and risk necessary to complete the story was monumental. But Truthout's editorial team met the challenge and supported me along the way, proving how incredibly fortunate I am to be working for an organization whose staff members are just as passionate as I am about exposing injustice.
If you want to continue reading risk-taking journalism produced by reporters who can and will stand up to government institutions that attempt to suppress the truth, then please, support us with a generous tax-deductible donation. I cannot stress enough how urgent it is to fund nonprofit, public interest journalism that holds the powerful accountable.
We must raise around $9,000 more to meet our fundraising goal; please help us get there.
