And, they also hold the key on how to establish a sustainable personal and global prosperity, a just civilization and, a meaningful quality-of-life for all that is capable of lasting for 10 million more generations.   The unifying new integral perspectives, principles and tools that Universe Day and its universe consciousness calls attention to --- will help us to resolve our most serious global problems far faster, easier and more effectively than our limiting and polarizing current global consciousness!   About the San Francisco Universe Day Celebration    After the boat filled up with people, the atmosphere hummed with the quiet anticipation of Universe Day. Lawrence set the tone for the event, bringing the vision of Universe Day into focus.  Rochelle applied her light touch next. In the video, listen for her thunderous insights.     During the cruise, Lawrence and Rochelle encouraged everyone to get to know each other's integral resolutions and evolutionary actions planned for the New Year.  The sheer presence of what was held together was breathable; a power of collected intention with a charged yet settling quality. "I felt a dramatic clearing of new energy amidst the intention of collective community on board the boat," said Tony Ricucci.         Captain Phil undocked the boat and we ventured onto the water toward Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge, spreading the holiday cheer with a brief stop into Pier 39.  Those with an adventurous spirit overflowed out onto the bow with still more in the main cabin or upper deck. "My favorite moment was going underneath the Golden Gate and making a wish!" exclaimed Joss Jaffe, our tabla player for the evening and first time underneath the bridge. He was beaming ear-to-ear as the rare sight of the mile-long Golden Gate Bridge with its signature red and timeless angles, became bigger and bigger. "People travel from far away just to drive or walk across it, but how many get to see this view from the water, up close and from the under-side!" said a participant. The humbling power of the Golden Gate from this rare perspective is like beholding the power of the universe, harnessed in this true wonder of the world.  The awe and smiles were contagious, everyone wild with cheers as each made a wish for their resolutions to manifest in 2011.    Tommy, an acupuncturist from Santa Cruz, sat on the quieter upper deck.  "Reflecting on the past year, I'm looking ahead at what I can do this year to enhance it, without judgment. I can't change the past, but things will take the course they're supposed to, and take a different form.  How we begin things is really important.  This is a great way to start a new year with people gathered with this kind of intention."   As it grew dark, the nearby buildings stood like pillars holding the wispy fog of dusk.  Docking back into Sausalito, songstress Caroluna enchanted us with music inspired form the great lover-contemplatives such as Rumi, Hafiz, St. Theresa, and Meister Eckhart.  Caroluna doesn't perform; she surrenders to an invocation of cosmic embrace. Punctuated by Joss's effortless tabla-syncopation, her harp, voice, and the touch of her gaze seduced us into the longing of our true hearts.  We were spellbound. In a whole universe of possibilities, this was the shape we created as a community event.  The universe, for an evening, sang to us and held us just as the boat did on the water.  When we pass through the well-traveled roads of our lives, but from a new angle, we are filled with new energy and gifted with new insight to navigate our lives.  We see how to give and what we hold needs to be given. Opening to the Universe informs us each year, each day, and each moment. Today marks the 38th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court decision that affirmed a woman’s right to choose. Last month, Gloria Steinem, Gloria Feldt, Loretta Ross and I emailed you asking for your support of Not Under The Bus, the Women’s Media Center’s rapid-response communications hub and multimedia campaign to keep women’s health care fair, safe, and covered.  We received a wonderful response from our supporters, and sincerely thank those of you who gave generously to support this important project. But the reality is that this year’s Roe anniversary is one of the darkest ones, and we still need your support.  This week, the U.S. House of Representatives – now controlled by an anti-choice majority – introduced legislation that would raise taxes for recipients of health plans that cover abortion, tighten restrictions on abortion for rape and incest victims, and ban abortion access for women serving in the military. I know you and I did not fight (for decades!) to be faced with this kind of unbelievable threat to our reproductive lives. There is only thing more dangerous than all of the above – not knowing all of the above. And there will be much more.  That's why it's the job of the Women’s Me di a C en ter to use new and old media to get the facts out, correct biased framing by the media, and to identify and train diverse, trustworthy, popular spokeswomen who alert the country to threats to the human right to reproductive freedom – and what you and we can do together to protect it.   During the healthcare debates, for instance, when Congressman Bart Stupak was posing the maximum danger, the Women’s Media Center launched  Not Under The Bus -- the only site that brings the whole pro-choice community together, aggregating critical campaigns, commentary and video from the WMC’s leadership and our pro-choice allies. Our strong voice amplified those who were fighting against the Stupak Amendment.  And we clarified the many media misconceptions about what Stupak meant for women’s health and rights.  Frankly, we think we also gave courage and leverage to many of you who felt women’s voices needed to be more prominent and less equivocal in that debate.   Not Under The Bus is again ready to roll out as a basic part of the media landscape and the public consciousness.    Not Under The Bus is a unique and critical project fighting biased media coverage through a rapid-response communications hub and multimedia campaign to protect women’s right to reproductive health.
